Fien De Block is a PhD researcher in Arabic and Islamic studies (UGent). Her research focusses on the shifting boundaries within the sciences of the stars in fifteenth century Egypt and Syria and is strongly motivated by concerns about the effects narratives about the Medieval Islamic world have on present day practices. More broadly she is interested in the material aspects and practical effects of knowledge practices in society.
